Ampthill Town Council wishes to clarify recent public comments regarding Ampthill Great Park, following an annoucement made by The Greensand Trust on Friday 28th November 2025
The Council has always retained full responsibility for the management of the Park as its landowner. The Greensand Trust was appointed under contract to provide grounds maintenance services, not management.
The current maintenance contract, which was originally scheduled to run until March 2026, has been brought to an agreed early close on 30th November 2025.
As a public body, the Council is legally required to re-tender contracts of this value under Public Procurement Regulations to ensure transparency and safeguard public funds. The Greensand Trust has chosen not to submit a tender for the new contract, which is entirely their decision.
The Town Council thank The Greensand Trust for their work during the contract period and the Council looks forward to continuing to maintain Ampthill Great Park and open spaces for the benefit of residents and visitors.
