Throughout England parish and town councils work towards improving community wellbeing and providing better services at a local level. We are the first tier of local government and provide services to Ampthill residents which inlcude local amenties such as the Ampthill Great Park, Cooper's Hill and two Allotment sites. We are also a local Burial Authority, and provide interment plots at the cemetery in Gas House Lane.
Ampthill Town Council (formerly Ampthill Urban District Council) has been a successor Town Council since April 1974, pursuant to the Local Government Act 1972. Ampthill is situated in Mid Bedfordshire, with a population of approximately 8,100.
The Council comprises 12 members and meets regularly at the Council Chambers. The Mayor/Chair of Ampthill at present is Councillor Stephen Judge and the Deputy/Vice Chair is Councillor Stephen Addy.
